Rachael & Sonia
You only live once. Make it so beautiful, it will be worth remembering.
It all started with an incorrect assumption, a computer glitch, and a lonely Valentine's Day. Here's how it went...
4 years, 4 months, and 11 days ago I was browsing on lesbianation looking for girls to talk to in my area. After all, it was Valentine's Day...and I was alone. I looked through the list of people that were logged in and came across someone who lived in the Brentwood area. I thought to myself, awesome! Brentwood (L.A) is not far from where I live, I'll check out her profile. Well after checking out her profile, I decided Sonia was someone I wanted to get to know. So I sent her a message and wished her a happy Valentine's Day. After getting no response, I signed off and went to bed. The next morning I was on my computer and had a message pop up on my computer. It was from her!
We ended up chatting all day. I quickly realized that I had incorrectly assumed that she lived in the Brentwood L.A. area, when she actually lived in the city of Brentwood in the Bay Area. Then I found out, she wasn't even signed in when I sent her the message, it was a problem with the computer that showed her as being signed in when she wasn't. Thank goodness for happy accidents. :)
We chatted for a couple of days until she sent a picture of herself from her cell phone to my email and I saw that her phone number was attached to the picture. I let her know that she should be careful who she sends her pictures to because her cell number comes with it. She very nicely said, "I know that! Why haven't you called me yet?"
We talked every day after (for about two weeks) and quickly knew that we had to meet. So my sister and I planned a trip up to San Francisco for the weekend. We flew up to Oakland where Sonia picked us up. I was totally love struck the moment I saw her. The first time we hugged, it was magical...like no one else was even there. She felt so good in my arms. We just fit!
We spent the entire weekend together in the city and the day I was leaving to go back to So. Cal, she told me she loved me. The rest is pretty much history. We managed to see each other at least once a month (or more) for a year while I finished school in San Diego. We flew back and forth between Southern Ca and Northern Ca until I finished my bachelor's degree and was able to move in with Sonia...which we did, one week after I graduated.
We've now lived together for 3 years and have a beautiful life with Bella & Bailey (our 1.5 year old labs) and Sammy (our 5 year old stray who adopted us).
We're getting married in San Francisco on August 22, 2008 and we're having two receptions. Yep, two! One in Northern Ca with Sonia's family and friends and one in Southern Ca with my family and friends.
We are elated and cannot wait to be married! It's been a long time coming. :)
It's simple really...each other.
