Erika & Ryan met while working at a family portrait studio. Ryan has a background in graphic and web design and Erika has a background in freelance writing. After photographing over 5000 families and other traditional portraits, they realized that their creativity would never fully take off unless they broke out and started fresh. And so Rowell Photography was born. From the very beginning Erika & Ryan have been focused on wedding photography, and creative portraiture.

Erika & Ryan capture such great pictures of us... Natural and simply beautiful. They just depict the true self of us; all smiles and laughter. Engagement and wedding album portray contrasting themes - engagement is light-hearted, cute & cheerful; wedding album is formal, grand & pristine... They have great ideas on the perfect place and scenery for each shot... We hail all the way from Singapore, and we will think flying to Canada for the shots is one of the best thing we did.

We were very lucky to have Rowell Photography for our wedding and engagement photo shoot. They are both brilliant at what they do. Our engagement and wedding photos are something I will cherish for the rest of my life, especially our wedding album which is more than I could have ever imagined. Erika and Ryan were absolutely fabulous on our wedding day, as well as during our engagement shoot. They made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera - something we aren't so used to! They were friendly, personable and professional. They take their work seriously, which is great. The pictures turned out amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better set of photographers. Everything from the candid shots, to the posed family shots to the lighting were incredible. We couldn't even pick out ONE bad picture because there were none. I would strongly recommend them to everyone I know and actually, already have!

As a wedding planner planning my own big day, booking a top notch photographer for my wedding was a priority for me. Working with Rowell Photography throughout my wedding planning was one of the best decisions I made. From the creative engagement session thought up by Erika and Ryan themselves, to the wedding day and beyond, we never felt like "just another client" to this dynamic team. We felt like we were working with friends! Although there are many good photographers out there, after our first meeting with Erika and Ryan we were sold. The quality of their work speaks for itself, but their personable and professional attitudes is what made the whole process fun and enjoyable.
When our friends and family saw our engagement photos that were shot in front of live fireworks, they were absolutely blown away. The response was overwhelming. Rowell came up with the concept, while we just had to follow their lead, and the result was astounding.
We've had the same reaction to our wedding photos as well, as Erika and Ryan's artistry and experience captured our day in the best way possible. I hope to work with Rowell again in the future and would happily recommend them to my clients, friends and family.

We wanted beautiful wedding photos that captured the day and our personalities. A "typical" photographer was not going to cut it. We loved the photo-journalistic style of some of their pics, and the sense of humour infused into others. They made the groom (who is camera shy) comfortable. From our engagement shoot to our wedding day pics we felt like we were heard, and were understood.

I absolutely love my wedding photos by Rowell Photography. They were very professional and, more importantly, friendly and very easy to work with. I felt at ease with them on my big day and trusted them to make my wedding photos perfect.
We booked them and that was the only thing we had to worry about and they were always there to answer any questions we had very promptly.
I would highly recommend them. Not only are their photos fantastic but they are very easy to work with and I got my wedding photos very quickly afterwards. Something I very much appreciated.

Its hard for me to give Ryan and Erika of Rowell Photo anything less than a 5 out of 5. They made everything really easy leading up to the wedding, from booking our engagement shoot and choosing the locations (which were awesome), we had beautiful photos which we created a guest signing book out of. The engagement photo session was so much fun and it really shows in the photo. My husband really doesn't like having his picture taken and they really made it light and easy for him, we were both very very happy with that.
Leading up to the wedding, the correspondence between them was really easy and they were always there to answer any of my questions and go through the time line to make sure the day of the wedding flowed.
They were really able to capture the feel and energy of the wedding. The photos turned out really great, from the ceremony, family portraits, to Union Station and the reception. It was hard to narrow down which to choose for the album, which I ended up narrowing down close to 300 photos. Our wedding album was a 35 page spread album, it's huge! I love it. I am only getting compliments, my family and friends are very impressed with everything.

My husband and I would definitely recommend Rowell Photography to any couple looking for a wedding photographer. While they are not cheap (!), you do get two photographers for the price of one (one male, one female), so on your wedding day, you will have the luxury of having a photographer anywhere at any time. Rowell travelled 6+ hours to shoot our engagement photo session and only charged us for gas which I thought was very generous. They are a truly laid back pair who will do their best to make you laugh so if you are looking for someone who is very serious and intense, these may not be the photographers for you. They are true artists- we were blown away by our engagement session photos and we knew that these guys were well worth the investment. They are the real deal in photography!!

The Rowell Photo team (Erika and Ryan) were not only our photographers - they became a huge part of our expereince leading up to and the day of our wedding! They shot our engagment photos and our wedding photos and all I can say is WOW - they both knew how to capture each perfect moment and make it special for us. I think what sets them apart from any Photograher(s) is the chemistry they have with each other - it allows them to feed off eachother's ideas and make decisions quickly! Erika and Ryan are Professionals - I had full convidence in them and never had to worry once that they wouldn't capture the right moments or be there for us if we needed some guidance. That is one of the biggest things you need to think about when hiring Photographers - especailly since you will cherish these photos for a lifetime. Having Rowell at your event or special occasion - you will laugh with them and enjoy every minute from the first click of their camera to opening up the amazing album they will create for you! From the moment we found Rowell photography's website online we knew they would be a perfect team for capturing our wedding day photos. We were traveling to Canada for our wedding and were a bit crunched for timing on engagement photos. Erika and Ryan accommodated us and had our guest book ready in time for our wedding date. Rowell made our planning simple since they had answers to all our question and were personable and friendly to work with. They have taken beautiful photos for our wedding which will last us a lifetime. We highly recommend them!

This was the one thing I was prepared to spend my money on and Rowell didn't disappoint. You can only remember so much about what happened and they captured the day perfectly. The photos are beautiful and Erika and Ryan were very easy to work with. They even let me change my wedding date without a fuss. I highly recommend them.

Erika and Ryan were fantastic. I was so pleased with the photographs and how professional they were for our special day. We were so surprised to find our first photos the day of -- two polaroids -- tucked into our napkins when we sat down for dinner. I absolutely recommend them.

Do you have liability insurance?
Yes
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Yes, we have photographed in almost every lighting situation imaginable. From studio, outdoor, indoor, ambient, high noon sunlight. We have experience with it all, and come out with some amazing images. We love the challenge every new situation brings.
Is your media preference film or digital?
We are digital shooters, but every once and a while we like to play around with film.
How many photographers do you work with?
Just the 2. Ryan and Erika. Depending on situations where the event is much larger then the two of us can handle, we do contract additional photographers.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Seriously, that is a stupid question. Yes its us two that will be at your event and yes thats why you hired us, and yes we will come, I mean you want us there after all :)
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Never, one wedding with two photographers always. Were a package deal and we never split up to take more jobs, it comes back to the personal service we offer.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Always, and its not just one set, its two sets of back up equipment, batteries, cards, hard drives, cameras, lenses, the list goes on. I want a second car to put in the trunk too but thats not likely.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel charges do apply but that is something that we can talk about in person or on the phone. Each situation is different, so we suggest you just ask us. Travel fees do not apply to the GTA.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Initially we offer proofing on our online boutique website. If you do require a proof book, let us know and we can quote you on its cost.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
Online version is hosted for one year, but the proof book is yours to keep.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
You have the option of purchasing the Digital Negatives, and they are provided in our packages as well.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, Rowell Photography has an online boutique where you can view your images and order prints, canvas and albums.
What kind of albums do you offer?
We offer the most amazing albums ever! They are a flush mount, waterproof album. Leather covers in a variety of colors and your choice of matte or metallic paper. These albums are best seen in person to appreciate, but we promise you will love them.
When will the client get the final album?
That of course depends on the clients. But the first album proof online is usually viewed by the client within the first month after the wedding.
